A bunch of comic book heroine inspired looks, based on the colors in their costumes.

Like, what make-up does Huntress wear to the office or Spider Woman wear to the club when they’re not out fighting crime?

    Others possibilities:
    Harley Quinn
    Poison Ivy
    Wonder Woman
    Black Canary
    Jean Grey [Phoenix]
    Ms. Marvel

this is the fourth time I’ll ask this because I honestly don’t know if you just haven’t seen it or are intentionally ignoring it, in which case this will also be the last time I bring it up because it’s probably getting annoying for you D:
So, I have bad timing and emailed you during the whole Calypso Minerals stuff, but my email wasn’t CM related at all, it was asking you if you could help or advise me on some foundation, that’s it, if you’re reading this and want more info I’ll email it to you, I’d be very grateful if you could help me with this <3 thank you.

    Thanks for being awesome!

can you do a fashion haul etc im a plus size chick and it would be helpful to see how u style yourself

  19. January 27, 2010 / 6:41 pm

I think Thursdays and Wednesday is a great idea. It may help someone pick something out for their Friday, Saturday or Sunday outing. As far as what I would like to see:

    *”Top-Heavy” flattering clothing
    *”More Mature” (I’m 26, not 14) Retro/Punk/Indie
*Interview wear for the “Creative” Industries. (ex: Pastry, Jewelry Design, Photography)
*Maybe this could be blogged and NOT Youtubed but Lingerie is sometimes difficult.
*Special Occasion Outfits, like events that require mailed invitations.
*And all of the above with alternatives to wearing high heels! Some of us big gurls get knee pain!
    *…..Accessorizing rules.

Thanx for all the great makeup tuts. You’re by far my favorite Guru. Peace.

heyyyy was wondering if you could cover Leona Lewis’ look in her music video “I See You” (the avatar theme). I love her ethereal blue/green/gold look and it looks great on her green eyes (I have them green too), I think you would have fun recreating it ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello! This is actually the first time I’ve requested anything from a guru. :3

I LOVE the fashion idea. I’m a plus sized girl myself and I can’t help but wear black ALL the time. It’s slimming, matches with anything and hides most of my problem areas. But I’ve been wanting to add more color to my wardrobe. I’d love to hear your input on how to wear more colorful clothing. Also a few tricks in camouflaging those problem areas would be pretty sweet too. Hehe! ^^

    Thank you! <3

    hi Cora!
    1. your videos are simply wonderful, I definitely prefer them to blog posts – you are absolutely amazing and I have some feeling like ‘could listen to you all day long without getting ever bored’
    2. Any day is great – most of the people will have some more spare time on the weekends though
    3. what about some Alice inspired Make ups, more review videos about any all day issue – they’re always really inspiring (somewhat like the shampoo-and-stuff review you did for example)
    4. Just do what you like to do! So far, your thankful auditorium cannot complain, as far as I can see.
    Have a wonderful day,

  25. Jezzy
    January 27, 2010 / 11:25 pm

I was only recently introduced to your videos, but looking through some of the old stuff on your site, I would love to see a FOTD you did back in May 09 that you mentioned you may do a tut for, but if I am correct you never did a tut on it. I LOVE the look and have the same problem, silver is so far out of my comfort zone but you pulled it off flawlessly, so I’d love to see a tut, because I have a handful of silvers since I love the color, but have no idea what the heck to do with them.

If you find this interesting, I would like to see video tutorials with makeup looks inspired by the Disney princesses (the classic princesses not the new ones if possible eg. Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Snow White etc.). Kind of like the tutorials you did with the Sailor Moon looks.

I would love something like that ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. January 28, 2010 / 6:45 am

I would love to see you do the look from Alicia Keys’ Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart video. The one of her in the purple outfit. Or the one of her in bed. She has a fairly nude lid and crazy heavy lashes with heavy liner on the lower lid and no liner on the upper lid. I think you could totally rock it!

  30. Valene
    January 28, 2010 / 7:19 am

Hey doll, I figured I’d put my input on what you can touch on with the upcoming fashion videos here instead of on your YouTube (darn character limits, hehe).

Here are just some ideas, hope it helps out!

I’d like to see ideas on where to shop, both stores you visit in person, and any websites you’ve shopped at online (which will be helpful to people not in your area, like moi); how you like to accessorize in general, or more specific stuff like how to dress an outfit up or down, or give it a different feel just by swapping out accessories; your take on current trends that arise (whether it’s yay or nay!) and how to incorporate them into your existing wardrobe; how to pull together interesting outfits with things most people already have in their closets; favorite colour combinations in outfits; how you highlight your attributes and camouflage things you’re not so fond of; where you draw your fashion/style inspirations from, movies, musics, pinups, art, etc. And hey, if you’re feeling really adventurous you can take us on shopping trips with you once in awhile! Field trip! Haha. Those are just a few, so many things you can do! Can’t wait to see how you rock this!

  31. Stephanie Martinez
    January 28, 2010 / 8:49 am

I would like to see…what stores you shop at, I am also plus size and am wondering if you have any secrets that I don’t know. :] I’m into rock/punk style and cutesy accessories so of course stuff geared towards that for me but I’m going to look at whatever your offering.

    Makeup looks…
Teal and Gold look, don’t have a picture bc it’s not a specific ‘I want THIS’ but I have been playing around with these two colors and haven’t found what I want.

Maybe a fun look for a techno festival, bright crazy makeup. I have lots a friends that go to those things and I have been asked to go this summer and don’t really do that type of look.

Oh! I recently discovered ‘psychobilly’ and fell in love but they are not offering much in the way of tutorials for hair or makeup. If that’s a look you like maybe you can suggest some interpretations. I have tried a couple of my own looks but would love to see what the almighty guru ;] has to offer.

So please do a look for me:) the shooting is on february 6th so it would be nice if you upload the video before that date.
    liebe grรผรŸe janine

  33. January 28, 2010 / 9:50 am

I’m always looking for a plus size fashion videos on youtube. The ones here are not that great. I try and mix adult contemporary and punk/alternative with a sexy twist! I think your style would be right up my ally!

Reviews of stores you go to (online and tangible) and brands you like would be cool! Some tips of mixing colors and items/jewelry! Any fashion rules you live by would also be great! I would love to see what you wear when you go to work!!!

In the end, I’m sure all of the videos will be awesome since your makeup tutorials are amazing!

    January 28, 2010 / 10:21 am

    Hey Cora ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not really looking for any specific colour looks. But I am wondering if you could use the 88 palettes more. I ask this because a lot of people have them so we can all use the same colours, etc. I got mine from eBay and love them both but I have difficulty coming up with looks to use them.

As for fashion videos – plus size girls where to shop, what styles look good, how to hide things we dislike and highlight the parts we do like.

Any day to upload I think, I watch videos every day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much – I really hope you can do this!

  35. January 28, 2010 / 3:12 pm

I got Medusa Makeup for Christmas (electro pink) and I really, really like it but there is one problem: get it off again.
    Are there any tips?

I would like to see very dramatic looks. I’m a goth chick so I definatly don’t shy away from extreame looks and it would be nice to get new ideas from a non goth/former goth’s prespective. I’m a romantic goth so something beautiful and not just a circle of black eye shadow around the eyes (so boring) anything dramatic, couture, and just down right edgy would be much appreciated. thanks!

    Hey Cora,

It sounds like everyone wants some ‘edgy’ looks, but all I’d really like to start with is some basic easy to wear, affordable looks both for work/going out/casual. I don’t really have a picture to link, but hopefully you catch my drift!
So glad you’re going to do fashion videos btw, its so brave of you, I’d be so scared to put my body up for scrutiny on the net. Thank you so much!

Maybe this is just my problem, but I have extremely long and thick eyelashes that pretty much point straight down. I cannot get them to curl to save my life, and I am at a complete loss of what I can do. One of my biggest issues that I’m having with them is that it changes the look of my eye makeup, giving me this perpetual sleepy-eyed look. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

Since it is coming up, could you maybe do a Mardi Gras inspired look? Perhaps something with purples, greens and golds (or just one or two.) Could be a basic look or something totally wild! I think a Harley Quinn one would be fantastic!
I know that ’20s-’50s is quite a common tutorial all over Youtube and the like but I was wondering if others would also like (like I do) a Dita Von Teese/Burlesque kind of thing. I know you and others might think it’s a tired tutorial but I would love to see how you could do it.

What about an Emilie Autumn-esque tut.?

you should do a review on hair products. like what the best flat iron is that you have used. What product you use for heat resistance. What works better for you a metal or plastic straightner

  52. February 24, 2010 / 4:26 pm

Hi there Cora: How about a tutorial with your interpretation of MAC’s face chart, with emphasis on eyes, Spring Colour 4 Forecast – “Gold Dust?” Am most interested in placement and shading/blending of shadows rather than specificity of MAC’s colours. Really appreciate your energy and talent. Thanks so much.

Hey first off I wanted to let you know that I LOVE your videos! Your super talented! I was wondering if you can do a tutorial for the look “Elana” wears in Vampire Diaries. I love her makeup and cant seem to copy the look myself lol. Help? It would be super awesome if you could, and I’d love you forever! lol <3 Hope you have an awesome day!

    Sorry I couldnt find a better picture….

  55. March 22, 2010 / 10:55 am

    Hi Cora!

This may be a bit late, as your post is from January. But I would love to see a review for the new Tokidoki line at Sephora!

I’m in Canada, and our Sephora doesn’t carry nearly as much product. I doubt they will get this line, and would love to see some of it “live” before ordering online.

The lipstains and pen eyeliners look awesome, and I can’t wait to try them out.

Love your Site and Videos. You are definitely my favourite “Goober” to watch.

  56. March 27, 2010 / 3:46 am

    Hey Cora!
It would be absolutely amazing if you could do a sort of Marilyn Manson goth girl look. I would love love love to see that! Like take a M.M picture and modify it to compliment a girls face (if that makes any sense) I love your videos!

    April 6, 2010 / 7:59 am

Okay, I (and Im pretty sure like hundreds others) are needing the eyeliner video. All various styles that you do. And of course winged liner cause I always feel like my eyes arent conducive to the winged liner style and to seeing various people doing tutorials helps.

ALSO, forever and a day ago when you got your Kryolan UV palette you said you would do a tut for that pretty orange, pink, coral, yellow look from that vid. It never happened. Please?

    • vintageortacky
      April 6, 2010 / 12:10 pm

A HUGE eyeliner tutorial with a menu of different eyeliner types/styles is in the works! It’s huge project, but it’s going to be AWESOME!

The Kryolan UV palette + the 88 Palette Orange, coral and pink and purple video totally did happen, about 1 and a half years ago. Unfortunately, I used copyrighted music, and you tube made me take it down.

  59. April 11, 2010 / 4:23 pm

I think you should do a teen makeup look thats not full on makeup but something that shows that you have some makeup on. Could you do a wearable red look. I mean, REALLY red, like the red in this link…

I’d like to try something that is wearable for the day, but not like Twilight looks with the red on the lid and black in the crease.

I have the 120 palette from manly, and I have been having a hard time thinking of new looks to do with it, I’m only 18 and in college so I don’t have the money to buy new makeup at the moment, if you could do a tutorial using the 120 palette it would make my day! I wear anything loud, (I get tired of neutrals). Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

A quick and easy request as I know you have both of these colors– MUFE 75 versus Sugarpill Dollipop swatches, side by side? Please? ๐Ÿ™‚

I know they’re similar (and you used them in the redo of the starburst look you did), but I am trying to figure out if it’s worth getting both or if I should just wait and place a really big SugarPill order.

Hey!! I have a video request! I know you don’t use Loreal because of animal testing, SO I was wondering if you could do a video for everyone ABOUT animal testing! I don’t know much about it, do they actually put the makeup on animals? I guess I just don’t understand how that would even work w/ all their hair. ๐Ÿ™ I def don’t support anything that involves animal cruelty and I want to be informed on this!

Hey Cora I thought this request might be interesting to you. I am going to an anime convention at the end of July and I was wondering if you could help me with my make-up. My character is Lust from the popular anime, Fullmetal Alchemist. She’s a seductive, murdering living doll with a good side. I’m really excited to portray her but nervous that I won’t be able to get her look right. I hope that I peaked your interest enough that you’ll give me some tips in one of your awesome tutorials. If not its ok, keep making those great videos!

I got that for free while I was working at Sephora, and I have to say, I don’t really like it. It’s too thin and sheer to be any good as a gel liner. Is it returnable? MAC fluidline is only a few dollars more and it’s great!

    Hey Cora!

I’ve been a fan of your tutorials for a while..great stuff! I would like to request a tutorial about make-up brushes. I’ve only recently started using brushes, I purchased a set from Coastal Scents and they seem ok so far. I am a bit embarrased to admit however that I have no idea what most of them are supposed to be used for. Could you do a make-up brushes for dummies/rookies kind of thing that just generally explains how the various types of brushes like flat, round, angles..etc are meant to be used?

  107. August 14, 2010 / 8:55 am

Hi Cora, I’m been a big fan of your make up looks.
I was wondering if you could do sort of a ‘cyber goth’ or a ‘rave’ look.
    It would be pretty original.
Not alot of people have tutorials like that.
&; Use some non MAC and Nars.. etc makeup products also.
Because not everyone can buy MAC all the time.
    Thanks, [:

    August 28, 2010 / 2:16 pm

Hey Cora! Your tutorials are really entertaining. I like to learn new techniques but you’re actually funny and fun to watch, which makes all the difference!

So here’s my dilemma, I don’t actually do Halloween, because every year on that weekend me and a BUNCH of my friends go camp out at the renaissance festival for the weekend. This year my costume is very Tribal Fusion belly dance inspired, (A-la Rachel Brice, you can google image to see her, she’s gorgeous), its almost a gothic/steam punk take on the classic belly dance outfit. But i’ve found the makeup she uses 1. is WAY harsh on me she basically has a panda eye thing going on, and 2. Won’t last all day and I don’t want to end up a smudgy black mess!
So I’d love to see what your individual take would be on that style. As a halloween look there’s a lot of fun bindis, shells, flowers, and synthetic hair falls used, but i’d be super happy just to see your ideas on any of it!
    You rock!

    Hi Cora,
My husband and I are going as Sally and Jack to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World in October and was wondering if you could do an updated tutorial of how to Sally’s makeup? I would greatly appreciate it!! I totally understand if you don’t have time to get it done before then. Hi!! I am needing some inspiration to do my halloween makeup. I am doing a mad hatter look, i love all the colors with this look! However, i cannot come across anything that is ‘wearable’ instead of just a theatrical or costume look. I love the way you use bright, bold, pigmented colors in your tutorials & thought you could do one of your own or help with some tips on how to apply these colors so they’ll pop! I’m thinking of coloring my own false lashes orange to still get that look but not so dramatic as the picture. Thanks!!!×319-19726.jpg?w=550&h=319

Hey there, I have to say I love your videos. Not even sure how I found them but I’m glad I did. And honestly wish I had of stumbled across them ages ago. Anyways, I would LOVE to see a video on brushes if you haven’t done one already. Kind of an odd request, I know. It’s just that I’ve been using sponges, Q-Tips, my fingers, etc for years and I’m now starting to look into investing in some quality brushes. I don’t live in America so it can be hard for me to find some of your brands, but I do know a girl who sells MAC products so if you could suggest any MAC brushes for things like blush, mineralized poweders, liquid foundations, eye shadows, etc that would be wicked! Thanks for considering it. ^.^

Hey, I was just browsing through the requests, and I noticed you were looking to swap makeup. I have no idea if Cora ever got back to you on that (She’s a busy lady!), but has a swapping community. Wet n’ Wild products are pretty cheap in North America, so I can’t imagine it’d be too hard for you to find someone on MakeupAlley who would be looking to swap theirs.

Hi, my name is anna,I have been following your videos for 2 or going to be 2 years soon. You were the first person I subscribed too a long time ago and you were one of the main reasons why I got into makeup. The first makeup video I watched on youtube was your, products I regret buying video. I remeber watching that video and I got hooked. I loved your eyeshadow look in that video too, if i can remember it was a dramatic cat eye. I was amazed at how talented you were at makeup and I probally watched every video you posted that day. To this day that products I regret buying video is one of my favorites because it was the one that got me hooked. I was wondering if you could do an updated products I regret buying video. I trust your opinion and I always know you tell it like it is and you give your honest opinion, not one based on companies promoting or if its a high end company it must be good. thasnks for making videos and inspiring me, it really means a lot too me ๐Ÿ™‚ .

    Hey Cora!

I love your videos and think you always look stunning so I’m going to submit this request to you its kinda a two parter.

A make up look for engagement pictures. I’m 23 and live in Florida so its a little warm here.

The second would be for a fall wedding make up look. I don’t really have specific wedding colors I’m pulling from all the shades of fall for my decorations (rust, eggplant, greens, yellows and so on).

Anyway I humbly submit this request and hope things in the internet world and the real one are well for you.

Well, apparently the new fad this spring is light pastel colours (And I guess MAC just confirmed it with the Flighty collection), but honestly, I have warm skin and have no idea what to do with pastels. I even picked up Annabelle’s spring collection, which consisted of four pastel shadows, and I haven’t a sweet clue how to pair them. Feeling inspired to create a pastel look, or do you say buck the trend and stick with the solid colours?

I am totally with Andrea Rose with the Super Heroine idea. Lately I’ve taken an interest in Wonder Woman. I think her look (Makeup-wise) is kinda vintage, almost a pin-up like look. I know that MAC, a few months ago, released a Wonder Woman collection. I’ve just ordered the Defiance eyeshadow quad and the Wonder Woman Lip Glass gloss. Been looking around for some Wonder Woman inspired looks, kinda like this,
    What do you think?

I know you love playing with colors but I would like to know (from your point of view) what is everyday makeup for you? and what is going out makeup? Or if your a I dont care I apply the colors I feel like for the day?

Hello! I’d really love to see you do one that shows the best colors to use with different eye colors, hair colors, etc.

I don’t want to make this too specific, but if there’s a way you can do this, even a basic one, I’d appreciate it, and I’m sure other people would too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, if you actually were to do this, I’d love to hear different options. Either more than one color for each eye, or different colors to pair it with, etc?

I understand you’re busy and get a lot of requests, but I wanted to take a chance anyways. ๐Ÿ˜€

My one question is how do you keep eyeliner and mascara from running down underneath the eye. Mostly i mean when I line the water line. I line it with a kohl liner and sometimes pat shadow over it but it still seems to give me the hated raccoon eye. Any advice is appreciated!!!

Hey! I am a follower of your youtube channel and I adore your talent! I am getting married in the coming months and we are having and alternative wedding that is going to be masquerade themed!!! I can’t wait! I am wearing a traditional Venetian mask that is metal with intricate cutouts, but I am unsure of what kind of eye look to do. I want something that will look elegant in photos without the mask but I also want the look to not be overshadowed with my mask on. Please help!

I recently got invited to an August Wedding, and wanted makeup light but playful. I put together a neutral eye, black liner, lashes, and coral lips. All seems well right? Wrong. I can’t put on my lashes. I’ve tried and tried but nothing works. Most of the time it seems as if my natural lashes get in the way as with mascara they touch my eyebrows anyway. This though isn’t the dilemma, so I’m here with a question more then a request. Hopefully you don’t mind.

Mac Lashes vs Drug Store Lashes.

As it was the first time ever for me buying lashes I saw a youtube video claiming how Mac 3’s changed his life so I purchased them. Now though I see a lot of people using Ardell’s (sp?) And was wondering the difference between the two.

Thank You for reading, and thank you in advance if you decide to answer me.
    Love your channel

I know I’m probably the only guy posting on your blog…but I have a request! Video game characters. Maybe the cast of Super Smash Brothers or something? Legend of Zelda? Mario? I guess to stick with a similar theme to your Sailor Moon series, you could do a “video game vixens” line. Zelda, Peach, Samus, Lara Croft…the list goes on. Just a thought.

    Anyway, you’re awesome!

I have a boring but useful request – how to care for your brushes. Also – when you are switching colors are you cleaning off the previous color somehow before dipping into the next? I’d assume so… Thanks for all the awesome tutorials!

I just watched your top 10 mascara tips, which I loved, but it made me realize that I might be a bit lacking in the mascara and eyeliner sanitation departments… ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I was wondering if you could do a video on this and also common eye makeup allergens. I have barely worn any make up in the past year, besides mascara and occasional top-lid eyeliner, because my eye lids become irritated by it. I have bought new and different mascaras and eyeliners (drug store and department store) and have the same results. Any kind of input would be helpful C: Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

LOVE your tutorials! You’re very cute, good energy – and fun to watch.
Someday, I hope you’ll consider having a guest OLD person on- and make HER up (maybe your mom or something)
I’m in my fifties, and watch you, then ‘tone down’ what I learn as is appropriate for a fiftysomething who happens to be in college.

    I know.

Your vids remind me of the days (long past) my sister and I would play ‘beauty parlor’ and do makeup, wash it off, and do it again. I repped Sebastian’s a LONG time ago,did some runway work, and stage makeup ‘back in the day’.

I use your ideas and techniques, but ‘tone them down’ so I don’t look ridiculous for someone my age, and it works quite well.

When you reach a certain age- you are limited to what your skin will let you do for makeup.
There *is* no foundation that will hide what happens.
So I use a ‘flash bronzer’ instead of foundation – and it works GREAT!

I’ve searched and searched online, and the videos for ‘old’ women are … poo.

These ‘makeup artists’ first thing put foundation on this poor older woman and … BANG!
    ten years older.

Anyway- I’m very happy I subscribed, and thank you for the energy boost!

Hey, I was wondering if you had time for the new nail polish that’s coming out; its supposed to be magnetic, so you could run a magnet over the nail polish towards a certain direction, and the nail polish will go along with it, due to there being little magnet pieces in the nail polish. Thanks. =D

Hey Cora! So, I’ve heard that the “trendy” color for Spring/Summer 2012 is going to be orange. I’m super excited about that as I think most women can pull off a shade of orange (peach, coral, etc.) and it just really says “happy” to me. I would love to see some tutorials using shades of orange on your YOUTUBE channel and in particular using the shade “Paradisco” from MAC. That is one of my all time favorite shades and I’d love to see what you could create with it. Much love to you Diva <3

  178. June 14, 2012 / 6:07 pm

hej! i wanted to request a video or blog post about highlighters -for the eyes.
it seems like no one goes into that, everyone has ‘my top favourite eyeshadows’ etc posts and things like that, but nothing about highlighters.
i especially love that palette you have, that is all duochrome highlighters i believe? but you must have more that you love that arent just plain mac brule, vanilla or nylon (yaaaawn) -and arent necessarily limited edition.
like, if you do a brighter colored look (sugarpill and brands like that) it seems logic to me to use a fitting highlighter instead of just a ‘natural’ looking one.
and if you go all natural, a little bit extra for pop is amazing, too!

  182. July 21, 2012 / 4:11 pm

Hey there Cora ! Love your work and everything about you~ You’re just so quirky and adorable.
So I’m a young 18 year old male, and I’ve been interested in doing makeup for about 4 years (I’ve done it for my high school theatre program and for some girls at my senior prom), but to be honest I don’t know much about makeup. I’ve been trying to research on information about different products and how they’re supposed to used and can be used as well as the different kinds of brushes. Also wondering on the technicalities on actually applying makeup.
I’ve done it before so I have a reasonable Idea but from what I can gather I was using the wrong brushes for the wrong things and not applying it as well as it could have been.
I was wondering if maybe you could do a video (or even a series) of makeup101 videos or direct me to somewhere with the information~

Thanks, love bunches and stay gorgeous (as if you have to try)
