Review: Happiness Boosting Powder?

Hi Guys and Dolls!

Today I’m excited to share with you a yet-to-be released product, Happy-Boosting Blush and Face Powder from Physician’s Formula! According to the press release:

“Developed to stimulate happy-thoughts, a sense of joy and through mood-enhancing ingredients combined with Color Therapy, Aroma Therapy and Texture Therapy.”

I’ve had these to test out for a few weeks and they do make my happy! I don’t think these are magic or have scientific powers- but each time I look at the metallic-looking Magenta compact, the cute multi-colored hearts and smell the powder I can’t help but smile, and yeah, I guess my spirits get lifted. I’m not sure if this it really more than the joy I feel using other specialty powders (my beloved Moonriver blush comes to mind). I do think the scent of the powder has a bit to do with making my want to keep applying it- it smells GOOD! I’m pretty sensitive to smell, so if a cosmetic is scented and I dislike it, I just can’t hang with it.  There are very few scented powders that I like (I do enjoy Benefit’s Sugarbomb) but when some powders/lipstick/mosturizers smell “rosey” like a lot of French cosmetics- it gives me the Icks (I had a housemate whom had an obsession with rose oil). These smell fresh and light- and let’s just say if you like Clinique Happy Heart you’ll love this! I couldn’t put my finger on the smell so I borrowed Mr. VOT who said- “it smells like Clinique”. HA! See men do pay attention to details!

The Face powder seems pretty sheer, though the one pink hear can make it a bit too pink for me to use as a highlighter- so I try to avoid that one. The Blush is buildable, depending on how you apply is is can be a sheer wash or give that in-from-the-cold rosiness to your cheeks. I honestly love applying both of these as sheer as I can so I can keep building them up and smelling them!

I can’t say too much about wear time, since the longest I’ve worn these was just 4 hours- though they were still on after 4 hours or errands. I think like any powder cheek product, dry skin will need to hydrate before application other wise they may not stick around.

These powders are a bit on the drug-store pricey side, $11.95 for the blush and $13.95 for the Face Powder, however this is a specialty powder, so it’s not run-or-the-mill- and when you compare it to similar specialty powders it’s a bargain especially if you can get them on sale!  These come with a little flat blush brush (eh, not impressed, though it is cute, this is not the best way to apply blush) and have a mirror, though the top is clear so you can always see the hearts! The compact looks metallic though its really plastic- time will tell if the finish will chip.  These are set to launch in February (a heart-shaped blush for Valentines day!) so I have plans to give a few as gifts!
