Hi Guys & Dolls!
As many of you know a few weeks ago MAC launched a smallish collection called “Bloggers’ Obsessions”. I’m a HUGE fan of Temptalia’s website so right away when she did a post about I knew I HAD to have the shadow she created, “Jealousy Wakes” described as a Emerald Green with Teal and gold shimmer. When the swatches for everything finally hit the blogosphere, I realized I also wanted Hocus Pocus, the name alone had me, but the color itself also looked great, kind of a weird green-grey-brown.
If you stayed up to make sure you got your goodies the day it launched, you know it was sort of a pain- they accidentally put the items for sale the day before they were ready, then they switched the Bloggers’ Obsessions items to “coming soon” and it created a bit of a panic. In any-case it sold out super fast and I consider myself crazy-lucky to have bought my items (especially since I gave up and went to sleep, though I did have my alarm going off every hour to check the website- oh what we’ll do for makeup. Sigh.) When I was waiting for these items to be available I poked around the MAC site and I discovered that the Beauty Balm was back in stock as was the Pure White Chromaline- two things I’ve been lusting after -and that concludes my Haul.
Wanna see product pictures and swatches?
Hocus Pocus is a Brown-Gray with a bit of a greenish undertone, tiny tiny micro flecks of gold -quite an unusual color. It is richly pigmented and the texture is smooth. Sadly I can’t seem to find a good dupe for it so I’m not sure if I’ll use it in a video because I don’t want to be a tease.
Jealousy Wakes is a green-teal with teal shimmer and gold flecks- another unusual color. Unfortunately, the texture is not as smooth and buttery as I’d expect from a Veluxe Pearl- it just shy of gritty. The swatch photos make it look very green but on me it looks closer to teal. The closest dupe I could find was Ben Nye’s Jade Lumiere Eyeshadow with a hint of Ben Nye’s Cosmic Blue over it (swatch below)
This matches my facial skin pretty well and does a great job of evening out my skin tone but does very little to cover blemishes freckles etc… For refrence I’m between NC15-NW20 depending on the product.
Pure White Chromaline– is a MACPro item. It’s similar to Fluidlines, but creamier and isn’t as dry once set. I bought this to use as an eyeshadow base in place of NYX Jumbo Pencil since the former tend to crease on me at times. So far so good, no major complaints but I also haven’t had very many opportunities to sue it (A proper review will come sometime in the future).
A few other things that come in the same jars as Chromalines:
So that’s about it!
