Shop with me! ~Sephora Chic Week- 15% off~

Hey Guys & Dolls! I received this coupon in a email blast from Sephora this week. I wanted to spread the word, and also get some feedback, since I’m thinking of taking them up on this offer myself. I don’t want to go hog-wild, but I think I may spend about $120 ish. Here’s a list of things I’m thinking of getting:

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette $50

In truth, I mostly want this for tutorials, since I’m sure I have very similar shadows, and in fact have some of these already, though I am attracted to the taupe-mushroom look of many of them. So the question is, how interested are you in this palette yourselves? Should I just keeping working with the Naked 1 palette/other neutral palettes, or do a lot of you have this/plan on buying it? While we’re discussing Urban Decay have you heard they reformulated their regular eyeshadows? What do you think of the new palette system?

MUFE Mat Velvet+ $34

As many of you know, I’m a HUGE fan of MUFE HD foundation. However, on a hot & sweaty day, it’s not my most reliable foundation. MAC Pro Longwear has wonderful staying power, but it’s just a bit too yellow and a touch too dark for my skin. This foundation is said to be water resistant, so one would assume it’s long lasting, and many beauty gurus rave about it. I tried this a few years back in Alabaster, and it was much too light & too pink, so I’m thinking of trying No. 20 Ivory. Anyone wear 115 and have any insight as to this foundation?

MUFE Face & Body $38

I remember when I worked at Sephora the MUFE trainer RAVED about this, and to hear many people tell it this is a fab-u-lous sheer foundation. I’m imagining this to be a version of a tinted moisturizer, minus the sunscreen. Thoughts? I think I’ll have to test this one in person before I can take the plunge.

Kate Sommerville SPF 55 Serum Sunscreen $45

Though I really love my CeraVe AM Spf 30 moisturizer in the drier months, last year it was just a little too slick for those hotter, oilier months of summer, so I need a great lightweight sunscreen for spring & summer. It seems like my search for the perfect product in never ending, and at this point, I’m willing to spend a little more for a better texture/appearance. This doesn’t have Zinc or Titanium Dioxide (physical Sunscreen) which I normally prefer, but I’m willing to try something new. Have any of you tried this? Help!

I also looked at 2 retinol serums, one from Peter Tomas Roth & one from Kate Sommerville, but I think I can find dupes from Paula’s Choice at about half-cost.

Beyond that I’m open to suggestions! Are there any beauty gems that I’ve been passing up at Sephora?

Thanks for shopping with me ^_^

I’m really curious about the new Illamasqua eyeliners. I may pick up Vow. I use the LaVanila The Healthy Face SPF 40 moisturizer with sunscreen and I LOVE that. I would highly recommend it.

Is it really lightweight? what is your skin type?

      • April 3, 2012 / 10:08 pm

I have sensitive combo skin, so I have t-zone that is prone to being oily. Sometimes my cheekbones get dry. I feel like it’s more on the lightweight side. I often use a serum underneath if I need/want more moisturizer.

I would love to know too. I love the LaVanila products but I’m scared to try new face products as I break out like a crazy person from the booby hatch. I’m combo / oily.

I have both HD and F&B foundations from MUFE and I must say that the F&B is quite similar to the MAC one. And regarding quantity/price, if you can get the MAC Face and Body foundation, I would skip the MUFE one. I have both and I don’t really find any huge difference between them. I’d suggest you to try NARS blushes! They are amazing xx

If you normally MUFE HD 115, the Mat Velvet+ 20 might be okay, but it might be too beige. I have extremely neutral undertones and the Mat Velvet+ 20 is basically my skin in a bottle.
As a reference, I wear the 117 in the HD, when I buy it, but I never stick with it because it’s a little too golden for me, and the 115 on my skin is so pink on me it’s insane.

I have the Naked 2 palette and I love it so much. The colors are still warm, but as a very fair, cool toned gal, I feel like the colors are better suited to my skin tone. And verve OMG! I wear it almost every day.

As far as foundation goes, I have tried Mat Velvet + and HD. I am a 110 in HD and the color just isn’t quite right. In MVP, I wear 15 and the color match is a lot better, just still not quite right. It’s a hair too light, but the next shade was too dark. My latest foundation love is the Lancôme teint idole in ivoire 1. The shade match is perfect. I’m going to pick up a full size during the sale tomorrow.

I’m also in the market for a new mascara. I want good length, and volume and black as night color. Any suggestions? Thanks, doll face!

I wanted to get the new Naked Palette, but now that all the formulas are new I am put off! Why would I want those “old, gritty” formulas when all the new ones are “so much more refined?” If they knew they were reformulating, they should have used the new formula in the new palette. OK, off my soapbox. Thx!

Actually, Naked 2 has the new formula! Everything starting with the Anniversary palette is all new. I honestly don’t notice THAT big of a difference. They do blend a tiny bit better. But not all that much.

I have both the naked 1 and naked 2 pallettes and you really dont need both. All though the matte black in the naked 2 is nice the colors in both paletts are very simmilar. The main diffrence is the naked 1 is more warm toned and the naked 2 is more cool tones. Soit depends if you like warm or cool looks better. I have watch a couple comparison vids. and most ppl opt. for the naked 1. I personaly also like the naked 1.

    I LOVE naked 2!!:)
I totally heard of the new UD system and ALTHOUGH it IS a rip off in a way…cause you can get either naked palette for $50, that has 12a full sized shadows. It cost over 100 to fill the “build your own” UD palette that onky holds SIXX! I LOVE UD!
    but dang guys:/

    (I still feel.suckered into still 😛 . Is that bad?)4 lol

I have both the Naked 1 and the Naked 2.. I loved my naked 1… UNTIL I got my naked 2.. now I like.. Never reach for my naked 1, except to do my brows. lol. The taupey purpley gray in naked 2… AMAZING.

I absolutely love the Kate Somerville Serum SS! It’s my favorite SS and I won’t be without it (especially in summer). Lightweight, no white cast, long wearing, not greasy at all, great under makeup. It’s so worth it for me. I hope you love it! I also really like MUFE F&B. It is very long wearing and beautiful looking on.

Did you try the MUFE foundations? I have very similar coloring to you. I am 115 in MUFE HD and NW15-20 in MAC. I found the 15 to be way too light and the 20 to be yellow in MUFE Mat Velvet +, so I bought the MUFE Mat Velvet + in 25 during the VIB sale. It seems to be a good color match and so far I like the coverage and staying power.
