Harvey Prince Scents Of Purpose Review

Hi Guys & Dolls!

This spring I had the opportunity to test out 6 Harvey Prince fragrances in the Scents of Purpose Kit. Harvey Prince is a different kind of fragrance company- all of their perfumes are scientifically designed to evoke emotions, curb cravings, or make you feel beautiful and younger!  I fully enjoy this set; I am a bona fide  perfume freak, and I know perfume doesn’t last forever, so I prefer to have several smaller perfumes and be able to create or express my mood though many different types of scent.

I love the story behind the company– they started it for their Mom! They wanted to create great scents without toxic chemicals, and best of all, no animal testing.

The most interesting thing for me, is how each of the 6 perfumes smell distinct from one another, but they also share a common theme I can’t quite place. Sweetness? But they’re not all sweet! I’m not going to fret over it- I’m just going to sniff myself silly!

Here’s a breakdown of the 6 included with this set:
Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Pomegranate, Mango, Jasmine, Tuberose, YlangYlang, Sandalwood.
Style: Fresh. Sensual. Luminous.
My Take: This smells light and fruity, but not cloyingly so. It really does smell young and fresh, but also timeless to me. It tries down sweeter and more floral than it starts.  The Jasmine in it smells about as close to the actual flower as I’ve ever smelled in a  perfume.
Notes: Lavender, Pumpkin Pie, Citrus, Jasmine, Freesia, Ylang Ylang, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Ambers
Style: Seductive. Sparkling. Wicked.
My Take: This smells sweet and bright, but it also has a brooding undernote in it that is so sexy! It really smells just like the notes! I feel flirty and sexy when I wear this.
Notes: Lavender, Blackcurrant, Plum, Raspberry, Apple, Jasmine, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Musk, Rare Woods
Style: Stimulating. Sensual. Spicy.
My Take: the first thing I smell is a creamy plum, and I just wan tot smell that all day! then the apple and the raspberry come out and do a little dance in my nose- which is weird- it’s sort of a small space for dancing. then the florals meld with everything and you have a creamy, bright fruit with a touch of woody sensuality. Guys love this one! I suppose after the flirt comes the fling!
Notes: Gardenia, Cucumber, Pumpkin, Nutmeg, Jasmine, Marigold, Patchouli, Vanilla
Style: Bright. Alluring. Eternal.
My Take:You flirt a little, you fling a little….And soon you have a couple! hahah I crack myself up. This one really smells like food to me- I mean, they all do, but this one is mouthwatering! The first thing to hit my nose is the cucumber and nutmeg, and then a bit of pumpkin and gardenia. Eau Flirt, Eau Fling and Coupling all smell similar but not he same- its like those 3 are telling a scent story!
Notes: Citrus, Passion Fruit, Rum Raisin, Vanilla, Patchouli, Chocolate
Style: Playful. Mischievous. Romantic
My Take: I say this smells sweet, but not cloyingly so- almost like there’s sweet sexy smoke following you around. This shares a bloodline with Aqualina pink sugar, but they don’t smell the same, Pink sugar is sweet, & powdery, and oh yeah, really sweet.  while this has a hint of sexy fruit punch, stoked over coals. Think of Eau de Creme as the big sister who moved to New York, gets sophisticated & sexed up!
Notes: Peppermint, Green Apple, Vanilla, Spearmint, Fennel, Jasmine, Rose, Sandalwood.
Style: Clean. Captivating. Coy.
My Take: Fresh. that’s what comes to mind when I smell this- and it’s not suprising given it’s list of notes. The first thing I smell is Pepermint- then slowly it turns to spearmint- the fennel just peeking out. Normally Fennel seems like it would be better in pasta with sausage, but here, it works. The sweeter notes come into play later, as the perfume warms on your skin. I love all the notes in this in other perfumes, and in this- I just think it smells delightly fully refreshing- not fruity or sweet- just light and clean. I’ve recieved a lot of compliments from both sexes while wearing this, and I always feel fresh & clean!
The Bottom Line- My two favorites are Ageless and Eau de Lite, with Eau de Creme coming in a close 3rd. I love this set and I think it would make a great way gift or treat to yourself! If you’re not interested in the whole set, Harvey Prince also sells these individually in different sizes!
Price : $60 for the set, $12 for each roller-ball individually.

I JUST ordered some! I’m sort of a “smell snob”- I hate to smell like anyone else. I’m always looking for something that is uncommon and stands out, but in an understated way. Can’t wait to smell what this set has in store!

The spicy scents sound marvelous! There is a local soap company near where I live that makes wonderful products with similar scents (or from what I can tell on this blog post).

I am so glad I have lovely people like you Cora to introduce me to something I probably never would have heard of otherwise! These fragrances sound so up my alley from your descriptions. I love sweet and I really like fresh, so I’m going to have to get this set. Do they layer well? I’m assuming they do, just curious if you do and which you think pair well.

I have tried three of the six, and I must say they stand up to their word. I have had so many compliments on the smell, I have heads turning from ladies and mens when I wear this perfume yes I am straight but, I love to flirt, and that is what the scent do flirt, and the fling also does the same thing, I did find myself thinking of certain things with each one, I must say I do not smell the eau flirt as strong as the eau fling, I wish it would last longer on me I just keep putting on more, but I Love them and I will try a different one next week. I have been using eau flirt for about a year now, and eau flling about 2 months, I wear the lotion and the roll on perfume of eau flirt.
