Hey Sailor! MAC product review & swatches

Hi Guys & Dolls!

Are you loving the nautical trend? I myself am not much for sailing, but I love a man in uniform! I love the graphic stripes and I think it’s a wonderful modern interpretation of the 1940’s. The sexiness of the nautical trend makes me feel like Samantha Jones in the “Anchors Away” episode of Sex and the City, arguably the best show on Cable TV ever! Getting dolled up for your guy (or for yourself) is such an enjoyable experience and I love any trend that celebrates glamour!

I’ve had these products for a while and I thought they might be sold out by now, but today I did some searching online and found that all three of these are still available! Get them while you can!!

First up- the Highlight Powder ($29 for 10gm) is just the cat’s pajamas!  Every year MAC releases a “highlight powder” with it’s big summer collection. More often than not, it has a design imprinted on it, a shimmery over-spray, and functions better as a blush than as a highlight powder. This year I think they did something interesting- this has a total of 4 colors in it (lavender, pink, coral and beige) and the colors are not an over-spray!!! This is such a lovely pink-peach on my skin and I’ve used a lot since it came out! I’m happy to tell you this is still available at nordstrom.com

Moving on, Blessedly Rich Lipglass ($15.50 for 4.8 gm) is the same formula as their permanent range of lipglasses, in a tube with navy and white stripes that is so cute! The Color is described by MAC as  “Pale Coral”… eh, what!? This is a pink-bronze lipglass if I ever saw one! It’s not the most flattering on my skin, but I think tan-deep skin beauties would really enjoy this. If the bronze-y tone of this  isn’t your cup of joe, but you’d like a sheer coral lipglass with a similar pink sheen, try Enchantress or even Love Nectar Lusterglass for you pale dames. If you want this particular shade, it is still available at maccosmetics.com and nordstrom.com

Last but not least we have Feeling Fresh Eyeshadow($16 for 1.5gm). This is the bright grass-green shadow of my dreams! For years I’ve been wanting MAC to repromote Wondergrass and I think this is as close as they’ve come. This isn’t as shiny as I would expect a frost to be, but I like the texture. With a little buffing you can make  it shine, but because it’s not too frosty it  works in the crease as well! I don’t normally depot my special packaging MAC shadows, but I might have to depot this one so I can have it in my green palette!

I swatched all three for you below

Crew Highlight Powder, Feeling Fresh Eyeshadow, and Blessedly Rich Lipglass

So there you have it, I love Crew & Feeling Fresh, but I’m not the biggest fan of Blessedly Rich on my skin color.

Where to buy- I checked online and you can still get many of these items at nordstrom.com and maccosmetics.com

Did you pick anything up from this collection? Do you plan to? Did you notice the 1940’s slang in this review?

  1. I already had Blessedly Rich Lipglass, I got it as part of a set from the Tartan Tale collection, funny enough I only wear it in summer, it’s the perfect bronze for me because I have a medium skin tone.
