“10 Cent Pistol” Plus Size Fashion

Hello Guys & Dolls!

Today’s fashion post is featured in the current issue of Skorch Magazine (Pg 36 & 37)! This is a continuation of my last post “Edgy and Sexy Fall Makeup“; The makeup in this post is from that tutorial, and this is the outfit I was wearing while filming it ^_^.  While I was getting ready to make the video I was listening to the Black Key’s “10 Cent Pistol”. In the song a woman gets revenge on an ex-lover and his new partner with a “10 Cent Pistol”, which could mean either drugs laced with poison or Acid. Not really a cheery song, but I love that type of stripped down, distressed music. The Black Keys make the type of music you feel like you’ve known your whole life- you just instantly like them!  If you haven’t checked them out please do!

This look is rather glam with the bold eyes and lips, a fall color palette, straight hair and a Kardashian Kurve top that is covered in lipstick and shoes. It is perhaps at odds with the sound and theme of the music, however I also pulled elements in like the well-worn buckled boots and the studded clutch that I think grit it up a little. I imagined the Heroine (or Villain, depending on your perspective) getting dolled up to ruin the lives of those who dun wrong’d her! Looking good is the best revenge anyway.

Top; Kardashian Kurve, Sears (Honestly, the quality and cut are not what I would expect for the price. The cuffs are too big, making the fit awkward and there are threads coming loose around the center button area constantly. With that said, the print is so freaking cute. I bought this online, but I’m not sure if I would have bought it if i’d seen in in person first.

Jeans; Torrid These jeans are the Bees Knees! This is a new type & cut for Torrid and I am in love! They have an almost velvety feel and hug you in all the right places without feeling tight. I wore these on a long car ride and it felt like I was wearing pj bottoms- that is how comfortable they are!

Ankle Boots; Dolce Vita for Target I bought these boots about 2 years ago, and they’re getting a little grunged up, but I like them better that way. I love everything about them- the gold buckles, the pointed toe, and they are devilishly comfortable. Sadly they are no longer available. I’m Sahrry Dahlin!

Bag; Aldo This bag can be used as a cross body, over the shoulder or as a clutch. I think the studs combined with the boots give this look a bit of gritty edge. Don’t be afraid to mix metals- the studs are tarnished sliver, my earrings are chocolate metallic (also from Aldo) and my boots have gold. Rock it out chica!

Nails; Milani Just Grayt Love this polish it’s a cream and pretty much a one-coater!

  1. Hi Cora,
Looking gorgeous as always!…LOVE your eye makeup…am totally gonna recreate the look…..
Have u thought of adding a black satin sash or a black leather waist belt featuring a self tie design..It’ll add even more elegance to the overall look plus a belt is great for giving a cinched in waist and creating a flattering silhouette…You should try it next time, you could even dress it up using a black belt with metallic gold hardware just like your shoes…
IMHO, the belt idea works really well if u r going to wear jeggings or skinny jeans or tight pants and longer tops/shirts/tunics that hide your hips.

  2. Cute! I haven’t heard much on the positive side re: the Kurves line. I’ve avoided checking it out because I don’t want to fall in love with something online only to find out it’s kind of meh
