Sonia Kashuk Jewel of an Eye Palette Review & Swatches

Sonia Kashuk Jewel Of an Eye palette

Hi Guys & Dolls!

Are you jonesing for the Urban Decay Vice2 Palette, but don’t want to cough up $59 price tag? One of the stand out things about the Vice2 palette are the metallic and pearl finish jewel tones. If you’d like to get your makeup paws on a handful of gorgeous jewel tones for a third of the price, The Sonia Kashuk Jewel of an eye palette might be for you! True, they are not identical, but there are some similar shades, so this works as an alternative, or if you’re a crazy makeup collector, an great addition to your collection!

  • $19.00 for 9.6g of product
  • Shadows don’t have individual names
  • made in USA
  • not tested on animals

  • Sold at Target- pick it up on your next Target run!
  • Comes in a pretty, reusable cardboard box-I’m using my to sort my used false lashes from the new ones!
  • 12 pearl/metallic shades
  • gorgeous jewel tones
  • compact so it’s easy to store and travel with

  • Unknown if it’s limited edition.
  • The shadows are a bit powdery and delicate, so you’ll need to be careful to not over-blend, & use a stickier base (like concealer, or a NYX jumbo pencil)
  • Zero Mattes or highlight shades, so it’s not a stand alone palette.
  • only sold at Target (a bummer if you don’t have access in your country)

How I feel about it I don’t want to give the impression that these are not great shadows-it’s just that in comparison to high-end shadows, these fall have a less buttery texture. With that said, with a little effort, these are wonderful, particularly as lid shades with matte eyeshadows you already have blended in all the right places ^_^

I think the colors themselves are very pretty. I especially love the greens.

Can you tell me if this palette contains talc? I’ve tried looking online, but I’m having trouble finding my answer?! Thanks for sharing swatches – it really is a pretty palette!

I just read the back and it’s the first ingredient. Is there a specific reason you’re avoiding talc?

I’m pretty sure it’s the culprit to my makeup allergy. Whenever I wear something with talc (and sometimes sunscreen, just not sure which one yet) my eyes get itchy and watery. It’s the only common ingredient, and since going talc free I do great.

People that like this palett should really check their Targets quick, cause mine has it on clearance for $13.

I tried the matte palette you recommended a while back and I wasn’t impressed. Don’t worry, you are usually dead on! lol but I found them hard to blend and not very pigmented, is it just me?

I think the neutral palette is sort of a middle-quality palette. I love the shade range, and the fact that it’s all matte, so for beginners it’s a perfect starter palette. But I normally grab for my higher-quality neutrals but that’s because I have the option ^_^ Not everyday neutral looks I gravitate to my Lorac Unzipped palette.

I’m such a sucker for Jewel tones. These are quite lovely!

On your face lift (for lack of a better term) on your blog, it so threw me off today. I thought I must have gone to the wrong site for a moment. I think while sometimes a more simple look can be good, in this case I think it needs a little bit of Cora added back in…

Great review again!! Luv YT channel. Its now less stress & almost fun! I’m 45 yo, olive skin, droop eye latina learning]. Barely used UD Vice2, UD Smoky, CS 88 Shim, BH 120 third Ed, Shady Lady vol 1-3, & handful Mac mattes. Few Sigma brushes. Now got this & returning my UD’s. I’m vintage hearted but prefer shimmer/metallic eye. How do these compare for staying power? How bout Maybelline Color tattoo? May grab a blue, purple. Any tips, comments, advice? Best colors & styles for older olive skin & brown droopy eye with deeper sockets? Pic on FB profile for reference if you have a sec. Gratefu for comment here or there or both!
