DIY Rosie the Riveter Makeup & Costume Tutorial

clean rosie edited insta 2Hi Guys & Dolls! Today I’m bringing you a fantastic DIY & last-minute Halloween idea- Rosie the Riveter! Rosie is such a wonderfully iconic symbol of Feminism, Americana and Nostalgia! In WWII when women starting filling jobs previously held by men, it gave women a sense of purpose, and if forever changed the lives of all Americans. Ok enough grandstanding, Really this works to well as a last-minute DIY costume because you might already have the essential items and if not, they’re easy enough to come by- I picked up the button-down shirt and the bandanna 2-pack at Target for less that $30. Tuck the shirt into a pair of dark jeans, a pair of black shoes or boots and you’re good to go! I also tried to use inexpensive and easy to get locally makeup for this video so if you are rushing around you can get the things that I used. The makeup is simple and classic, and I for one, LOVE this costume. This also works great as an everyday Rockabilly look. eye makeyp looking down rosie makeup full face eyes down rosie makeup full face What I used to create the costume

Hair I curled my hair all over using a teeny- tiny curling iron; I did this so my hair would “fill out” the bandana, and show that you could leave your hair exposed if you wanted. Then I teased the front section to give it volume, and then carefully sculpted it into my little devil-lock. A finish with some shine spray and finished!

  • Bumble & Bumble Thickening Mousse
  • TIGI Rockstar Dry Conditioner

Makeup I kept the makeup clean an simple- a few warm colors to contour and compliment my eye, a thick winged liner, a lashing of red lips, and plenty of blush to get that hard-at-work glow (watch the video to hear me hilariously word that oh-so-wrong). I used makeup that is easily accessible at drugstores or Target so if you don’t have something comparable, you could make this a one stop shop at Target!

Awesome! I can never get my eyeliner to look like that. Every time I put it on it gets smudged on the upper part of my eyelid.
