IS IT A DUPE? Urban Decay Perversion Black Eyeliner Comparison, Dupes & Swatches

The never-ending quest for the perfect black eyeliner. When I was at Ulta the other day I noticed the “Perversion” display and it gave me an idea to review & compare the Urban Decay Perversion liner lineup with other popular, classic or inexpensive liners. While this video isn’t an all-emcompassing look at every type of black liner on the market, I hope this overview will help you on your quest!

Milani is manufactured in the same place as most UD products are, unless UD had stopped using their German manufacturers. That might have to do with the reason they’re have products that seem like they could be sisters [intensely pigmented eyeshadows, super dark liners, good staying power with their shadow sticks]. I think essentially Milani has more or less the same formulas as UD with some minor alterations.

I do think I’m going to pick up Milani’s eyetech pen instead of the UD one, so thank you for the comparisons~ I can buy two liners instead of one :)!

I was curious so I went to look up the actual ingredient lists for the UD Perversion pencil and Milani liquif’eye pencil in black. The ingredient list is 100% the same, it doesn’t differ until the ‘may contain’ bit, which I think had to do with the fact that Milani’s ingredient list is all grouped together for all of their shades.

The two liquid liner types share a fair amount of similarities but they are not identical.

This is really awesome! I love Milani lipsticks but got to try their eyeliner now. 🙂

Ooh thanks for the tip for sensitive eyes! The regular 24/7 perversion irritates my eyes like mad when I put it in my waterline but it looks so good! I might have to try zero! (Giddy!)

This is really interesting to me, because I just now finally got an Urban Decay eyeliner set for Christmas, & one of the colors in it was Perversion. I’ve been a huge UD fan since the 90s, however I never tried their Perversion pencil liner, & I’m always on the quest for the blackest black everything basically, from eyeshadow, to eyeliner, even lipstick. And I’d heard that as far as pencils go, that UD is the blackest. So when I was swatching them on my hand, it was indeed very black, but I was curious & decided to swatch my Milani liquid eyes pencil beside it, & I think the Milani is ever so slightly blacker. Then I rubbed the swatches very vigorously. They were about the same I’d say. Then I splashed them with water, again, the same. But then I washed it vigorously with soap & water and while both swatches are still there, the Milani one is there much more. I’ll be curious to see which lasts longer when I apply it to my eye area-I have watery eyes, so I’m very curious to see which performs better in my waterline.

Thank you that was super helpful. I was wondering if you can do a video on black eyeliner easiest removed because I’m quite simple and I have stuck with urban decay perversion for years because it comes off super easily with hot water and oil.
