Torrid Sailor Moon Collection is Everything I Dreamed it Would Be!

MOON PRISM POWER MAKE UP! When I heard that Torrid was doing a Sailor Moon collection, I’m pretty sure I blacked out. I’ve been waiting more than 20 years for this, and now it was really happening. I was 11 when my friend Rachel tried getting me interested in Anime, and Sailor Moon was my gateway drug. It came on at 8:30am, so I’d record the episodes on VHS and then watch them twice when I got home from school. I collected every sticker, action figure- anything I could get my hands on. I had one sailor moon tee which I quickly outgrew when puberty kicked in, though I still wore it all cracked and faded for years. I have a few T-Shirts that Torrid ahd done over the years, and now Torrid has launched it’s Sailor Moon collection and it’s even better than I imagined.

Tank, Leggings Jacket & Shoes unavailable.

The Tank Top fits AMAZING! I have mine in a 2 and it fits lovely! Had to rock these leggings with lace-up flats. I just need some white lace socks! These fit amazing in my normal size 3 bottoms. I love the navy color with the pale pink tank.

🎵Fighting Evil By Moonlight 🎵

The details of the mesh are utter perfection. Bows, Hearts, Ribbons and moons! I’ve always loved how feminine the Sailor Moon universe was. She didn’t have to be a anything other than a girl to take down the Negaforce! The Tank is a bit sheer which I think looks great with my pink bra!

this Kimono is still available in several sizes as is this Sailor Scout Skater Dress!

This collection is selling out FAST so if you want it, you gotta ‘book it’.

DIsclaimer: The clothing in this post was sent to me by Torrid PR; All opinions expressed are my own.

10 Celebrity Shag Haircuts

Stevie Nicks

Starting with the queen of the shaggy, layered bohemian look, my style Icon, Stevie Nicks. Over the years Stevie has rocked a multitude of shaggy looks, and if you like your hair longer, her’s is a great style to shoot for! It’s casual, not-fussy, glamourous and sexy.

Joan Jett

Straight, razored, with bangs and a DGAF attitude, Joan Jett’s hairdo is iconic. Joan is still rocking a variation of this look to this day, and she still looks like the rockstar she is. You’ll need a good straightener to get this precision look.

Chrissie Hynde

Speaking of badbass bitches, Chrissie Hynde’s eye grazing fringe and shaggy style is a classic. I’ve tried to emulate this style so many times, Chrissie was one of my oldest style icons, and I’m in love with the fact that she’s still rocking it. Great style lasts forever.

Farrah Fawcett

One of the most recognizable hairstyles of all time, Farrah Fawcett hair is good shit. Big, bountiful, and feathered, Farrah’s wings are the things thin-haired girls dream of.

Alexa Chung

An update on the shag, Alexa’s look is modern and non-fussy. It’s a “I woke up like this” look that still looks polished and cool. One of the flatter-on-top styles, this works best if you have a slim face. Round and heart-shapes might find with thinner on top look makes the face wider. If you have thick unmanageable hair this is a good way to thin it out.

Curly shags are one of my faves. Zendaya’s curls are a bit flatter on top, and then graduate down to thinner ends, but the overall look is voluminous and shaggy. It frames the face and makes you look like a goddess with a mane.

Jane Fonda

The lady of a million shags, Jane Fonda put the shag on the map. She’s likely had more variations of the shag than anyone else on this list, and deserves credit for making this style mainstream. For those interested in a 1960’s shag, this is the one to go for.

Lisa Rinna

Lisa Rinna’s hair is ICONIC. Short, feathered, spiky and precise, it looks both casual and coiffed. I have rocked this style in the past and it’s not as easy as it looks- this takes a lot of precision cutting, so it’s not as easy going as some of these styles. Tina Turner

What’s love got to do with Tina Turner’s Iconic spiky shag? Everything. I am so in love with this iconic hair style, it’s beautiful, bold, and ENORMOUS. I’m always mesmerized by the beauty of it.

David Bowie

David Bowie rocked a number of shaggy styles in his day, some were more mullet-y than others. This is a pretty classic 1970’s men’s shag. I wanted to be sure to include Ziggy Stardust because this is a haircut that also works well for men. Should I do a  list of men’s shaggy hairstyles? Let me know in the comments!

XOXO – Cora

Five Plus-Size Velvet Dresses

My name is Cora, and I am a obsessed with velvet. I always have been, and this particular moment in fashion is extremely exciting for me, because velvet is freaking everywhere! I set out to write a review of the the witchy burgundy dress I shared on Instagram, and I realized the Simply Be site has so many amazing velvet dresses I wanted to share a few more with you guys! If you’re not familiar with Simply Be, it’s an incredible UK site for trendy and fabulous clothes sizes 8-28. I adore their size inclusivity, I’ve bought from them for years, and I’ve always been really happy with my purchases. They also have a men’s line that is unlike most men’s clothing that I’ve seen especially for larger men’s sizes. This x-mas I picked up several amazing Joe Browns pieces for Mr. Vintageortacky, and he was thrilled! Let me know if you’d like to see me do a review of their Men’s Line ^_^

Dress | Necklace | Boots | Belt

I’m getting started today with a dress I bought last fall, since I can write a review based on my experince. The Witchy vibes on this one are insane. I’ve worn this so many times I’ve lost count. It’s super soft, stretchy, the shape is flattering (once belted) the color is divine, and I LOVE a high-neck dress. It keeps me a bit warmer, and creates a backdrop for my jewelry. The best part? It was $31 bucks. Yep. Snap it up babes, it’s available in sizes 10-22, but I think it’s really size flexible. I have this in a size 22 but there is so much stretch I easily could have sized down, so my friends who wear a 24 or even a 26 could probably rock a 22. I wish it came in an emerald or hunter green a mustard and a navy. If SimplyBe decided to sell it in more colors I would SNAP. IT. UP.

this Blue Velvet number is serving 80’s Dynasty Vibes. You could go all-out with big curls and close toed pumps for a theme night (anyone else obsessed with 80’s style?) or modernize with a sleek ponytail and strappy sandals. How fab would this be with a white faux-fur stole? I AM DYING! If anyone buys this, please send me pictures! This gorgeous number is available in size 8-22!

This Kimono style dress is the perfect way to wear velvet this spring. The shape of the dress is so effortless and casual, but the print is a gorgeous expression of flowers and leaves. The model here is wearing silver accessories but I think a taupey gray would be equally gorgeous! Available in sizes 8-28 which is so great I wanna whoop and holler- amazing size range!

This embellished number would be equality dynamite with ankle boots, sneakers or a rainbow hue of tights. I’d personally rock this with striped tights, chuck taylors, and hot pink lipstick. I love that the shape isn’t so fussy or form-fitting, but the asymmetry and embellishment keep it from being boring. Perfect for babes who want some breathing or dancing room. Available in size 8-22

Speaking of Hot Pink the drape and color of this dress are simply to die for. Why don’t I own any hot pink velvet? I would rock this just as you see here: With Black boots and a leopard clutch. Available in size 8-22, I’d likely add fishnets in the spring/summer or leather leggings in the fall/winter to keep warm, but this is Definitely Vintageortacky Style!

10 To-Die-For Green Handbags

This post may contain affiliate links. Affiliate links allow vintageortacky to earn commissions on products we recommend. All opinions are my own.

As you may have guessed by my haircolor for the past year, I am a total sucker for the color green. Green is a versatile color that can feel happy, clean, fresh and bright, but it can also be luxurious, murky, dark and mysterious. Give me green in pretty much all of it’s incarnations: emerald, grassy, chartreuse, dirty olive, nearly black. The right shade of green can be a statement piece, or a neutral staple in your wardrobe. Green of any hue is one of my favorite colors to see in a handbag, and green bags are having a moment so I wanted to share a few with you!

We’ll start with something fairly tame and classic, this turnlock style from Ted Baker. The color is downright neutral but more interesting than a brown or gray bag. I love the clean lines and the rose gold hardware! It has a 21 1/2” inch strap drop which is about the minimum I need for a bag to fit my size 22 body as a cross-body. I just love how neutral and chic this is, and the inner compartments could make organizing my phone, eye drops, sunglasses, receipts, and zillions of lipsticks a little bit easier.

Fat babes rejoice: This Whiting & Davis crossbody bag has a 25″ strap drop that can also convert into a shoulder strap! Love the Versatility! Plus have you ever had a metal mesh bag like this? I had one in the early 00’s and it feels so cool! The oil slick coloring is gorgeous, and it comes in 4 other colors to tickle your fancy.

I love a good nylon bag- it’s so practical and light-weight, perfect for day trips or traveling. This Nordstrom Brand crossbody  is easy to clean; you can toss these in your washing machine, and let it air dry to get all the crumbs and coffee spills out. Is that just me? The olive color is so beautiful, it has a 23″ strap drop which is my personal sweetspot, and quite a few handy features like card slots. Kinda thinking og scooping this one up!

Three words: Green Leopard Print. Either that makes you very excited or makes you cringe. It’s an acquired taste, or maybe it’s just tacky, but if you love it who cares! This Claire V. clutch is essentially a zippered pouch that is big enough to hold a small tablet. Made in Italy and the USA, it’s a lovely piece that speaks volumes about your personality.

Green Velvet is probably one of my favorite things ever. Add matelassé stitching (the folding) into the mix and this bag becomes a textural delight! This Miu Miu bag is made in Italy, and is a pretty decent size for an over the shoulder bag. The price puts this baby well outside my budget, but I’m still delighted to have seen it!

I let out an audible sigh when I spotted this Gorgeous BRAHMIN satchel. The Color. The Velvet. The Embossing. The Shape. The boxy enterior that would make it easy to see an everything on the inside. Seeing this bag was like falling in love, I’m imagining us going to holidays together, and seeing the kids off the college and then in the twilight years, kicking back and watching the sunset together. It’s a bit pricey but not quite as INSANE as some gorgeous bags, so I’ll be watching to see if it goes one sale, or maybe I’ll just bite the bullet!

The moment I saw this Hobo Clutch I was struck by how practical it is! I love a good wrist clutch, and this one ticked all the boxes: Great style, fabulous color, big enough for my phone and card wallet but not so big I’ll over stuff it. The Jasper color will look lovely in any season, and I can see myself getting a lot of mileage out of this one. So I bought it. It comes it two other beautiful colors as well.

This Simon Miller bag was made in the USA! While this looks like a fairly large tote, reading the info I realized it’s more like a small clutch in size: 8”W x 7 3/4”H x 3”D Not so great for anyone who carried more than their phone credit card  and lipgloss, but perfect for a non-fussy date or dinner with your friends when you don’t want to look too dressed up but your everyday bag is too heavy for a night out. The color on this is right up my alley, I just want to pet it!

Compared to many of the others on this list, this Street Level clutch is a bargain at $35. I love faux fur, and the geo-shape of this cute bag really speaks to me. This bag s a 23″ strap drop- my plus-size sweet spot! This would be a great way to dip your toe in if you’re not sure green bags are for you!

And of course- most fun for last. I love any bag that looks like something else, so this Moschino Small Biker Jacket Shoulder Bag is insanely adorable to me. Under the cute design this is a basic flap bag, made in Italy, with a 21-24″ crossbody strap so hey-yo, perfect for every body.

What is ? Affordable Plus Size Try On Review

You guys! I am beyond impressed with my first ever BooHoo unboxing. Unbagging? Whatever- I’m so stoked to share with you this affordable plus size fashion try on haul. Boohoo carries standard size clothing as well as plus size fashion, and the prices even without the sale are incredible, but everything is currently 50% off! I’d been waffling on trying for a few years, and frankly I’d always assumed it would be crappola. Ya’ll: I am BEYOND impressed with the quality and the style! I was able to find things that suited my taste and also pick up a few things slightly outside of my comfort zone. Be sure to stay tuned to the end of the video- that last dress is FIRE!

for this try on haul, I did something a little different, I took everything out of the bag on camera to give you my immediate reactions, and then filmed a post-try on review/interview of each piece. Let me know how you liked this. It made the video a bit longer but I was also able to give both my initial excitement and thoughts on how is fit and ideas on styling.
