Hi Guys & Dolls!

Today I want to share with you my swatches and thoughts on the new Charlotte Tilbury Holiday collection. The collection is comprised of a trio of mini lipsticks in the shades Bitch Perfect, Penelope Pink, and So Marilyn, a full sized lipgloss and lipstick in LSD, and Confession and a gorgeous eyeshadow palette called Fallen Angel.

Fallen Angel Palette $65

The eyeshadow palette is gorgeous- the shimmer and pigmentation of Charlotte Tilbury’s eyeshadows never ceases to blow me away! They come out with colors that at first glance seems basic, but load it with beautiful shimmer, excellent pigmentation, and make it buttery smooth. Each eyeshadow has a beautiful star embossing that honestly made me not want to use it at first- it was just too beautiful to ruin! But of course I have used it now and you can watch the tutorial here.

While this palette is fabulous, I’d be careless not to mention that the the price for what you get is basically ridiculous. Charlotte Tilbury palettes are already on the smaller size, and on the pricey/luxury side at $52 for 5.2 gm of product. This limited edition palette is $65 for 2.8. TWO POINT EIGHT! That’s less than a gram per eyeshadow. Dude, that’s $13 dollars more for just a smidge over half the amount of product you normally get. I can understand people who love luxury and are willing to pay more, but for the amount of product to be so much less makes me feel like the consumer is getting the wrong end of the deal. Especially with such an easily dupable palette. The if the $65 price tag is out of your budget, I’ve added a list of dupes.

Shadow 1 is a pink based warm beige/champagne color.  Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Booty Call is lighter, less complex; Lorac Pro 2 Palette Beige is less peach, less complex; MAC Extra Dimension A Natural Flirt is the closest match, but still peachier, brighter.

Shadow 2 is a brown based silver taupe. it looks to me like a silver-brown duochrome; depending on the angle it will look more silver or more brown. There are a grillion dupes/subs out there, but here’s a few that come the closest: Urban Decay Verve is more silver, layer with a brown for a similar effect; Lorac Pro 2 Palette Silver, Mocha and Snow can be layered for a similar color. MAC Satin Taupe is more mauve, Wet ‘n’ wild Nutty is the closest- and only 2 bucks!

Shadow 3 is a shimmery red based brown with shimmer flecks. Urban decay Snakebite is more golden, Lorac Mocha (pro 2) is lighter and more pink, Urban Decay Factory(naked 3) is slightly lighter, pinker; MAC Mulch is the closest but slightly redder.

Shadow 4 is a soft satin black. Applied wet it’s quite deep, but applied dry is more of a deep gray. Lorac Black (pro2) is the closest, otherwise most blacks are much blacker than this. And now I feel like Quinn Morgendorffer (Daria, do these blacks match?)

K.I.S.S.I.N.G Mini Lipstick Charms $39charlotte-tilbury-kissing-mini-lipstick-charms

My favorite of this collection is the Mini Lipstick Trio, since I adore mini lipsticks and the quality, color and names of these are perfection. At $39 for 3g it’s not a bad value since one full size lipstick is $32 for 3g from the brand- you’re basically paying $7 more to have 3 colors instead of one and I think that’s fair. I already own and love Bitch Perfect and Penelope Pink, so I’ll use those minis as purse lippies, while So Marilyn is a lush new addition to my red lipstick obsession.

Bitch Perfect, Penelope Pink & So Marilyn

This is one of my all-time fave lippies, a perfect nude. Smooth Texture. Peachy nude. The Name. I swoon!

Penelope Pink Lipstick

Penelope Pink Charlotte Tilbury

This one is more of a traditional nude one me. It has a beige undertone, so I like to pair it with lipliners like MAC dervish to pink it up a bit for my own tastes.

So Marilyn Lipstick

So Marilyn Charlotte Tilbury

Is this real life? This cool toned cream red is absolutely perfect. Creamy, smooth, and lush looking on the lips.

Confession Lipstick and LSD LipglossIMG_7884

Confession Lipstick

Confession Charlotte Tilbury

Deeper and shimmery compared to Bitch Perfect. On someone with a golden undertone it would be bangin’! This is the same price as the regular CT lipsticks, $32 for 3g of product.

LSD (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds) Lip Luster gloss

LSD Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

I love the name of this lipgloss. LOVE <3 The color is very pretty on the lips- a veil of golden gloss. It would go great with any of the lipsticks here, but it’s also perfect on it’s own like in the above swatch. This is th same price at the regular CT lipgloss, $22.

Ariel Palette Comparison Swatches

Hi Guys & Dolls!

ariel & lady gaga intro 011

I wanted to provide you with some dupes/substitutes for the colors in the Ariel Storylook palette. Rather than a list, I took a day and went through my own makeup collection and did a huge swatchfest. Below you’ll see a comparison swatch of each color in the palette along with two similar “substitute” colors to help give you a better idea of the colors in the Ariel Palette. Maybe you have something in your collection similar to these colors. Maybe they are similar to something you’ve been wanting to get. There are a great shades in this palette, but overall nothing out-of-this-world unique. Read More “Ariel Palette Comparison Swatches”

Urban Decay Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Pencil Set Review, Swatches and Comparisons

Urban Decay’s Gone Crazy!

Hi Guys & Dolls!

Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on pencils are a cult hit for a reason- they are available in a wide variety of colors & textures, and they live up to their name: They glide on smoothly with zero tugging, and last all day or all night as it were. They are the pioneers of long-wearing colorful pencil eyeliners, and while other companies have come up with new, more buttery, gel-like formulas, I find that the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils are less drying and less irritating for sensitive eyes. Tantric Bronze- Wearable & Affordable Summer Makeup

Hey Guys & Dolls!

Last week I did a massive review video and in that video I was wearing makeup similar to this. At that time I was just testing things out & playing around with them, so it was a tad sloppy, but many of you wanted to see a tutorial for it, so I tweaked it a bit to be a wearable and easy summer makeup tutorial. In the first minutes of the video I walk you though my tan today gone tomorrow “tan-trick”. I also wanted to provide you with a few substitutes/dupes since we don’t all have the same products to work with, so I’ve provided some alternatives in the product list below.

What do you guys think of the animation at the beginning of the video? Read More “Tantric Bronze- Wearable & Affordable Summer Makeup”

MAC Me Over Haul + Dupes + Swatches= AWSOME!

Hey Guys and Dolls! So I jumped the gun and uploaded the video for this post before writing it out, and now I’m sitting here with bleach on my head…not well planned out. Here’s some awesome product pictures, swatches, and dupes!

Curvaceous LipGlass, Oh Oh Oh Luster Lipstick

Curvaceous Milky Dusty pink. It slightly settles into lines but in person it’s not even noticeable. I’ve seen this look good on NC15-NW45 skintones!

Oh Oh Oh Lipstick Sheer Berry/Plum with golden/Copper shimmer. Luster lipsticks are thin in texture, and are typically pretty sheer. They are also pretty moisturizing feeling and the sheerness makes them very attractive. This is like a little-sister to MAC’s “O” lipstick in the regular line.

Stunner Blush and Avenue Fluidline

Stunner is a light coral-pink thinking blue thoughts. It warm enough to work on many skintones, but it might be too light for very deep tones. I’d consider it Mocha and Fleur Power’s light-skinned baby.

Avenue is a very dark brown with lots of small glitter- more glitter than Blitz and Glitz Fluidline from the regular line.

Clockwise from the top: Outre, Mythical, Carbonized, Creamy Bisque, and Moleskin

From L-R Creamy Bisque, Moleskin, Outre, Mythical, Satin Taupe, Carbonized

Creamy Bisque is a soft off-white Frost eyeshadow with a almost pink sheen. It’s not very intense which is why is makes a fantastic highlight color for beauty makeup. It’s the Piner version of MAC’s Shroom eyeshadow in the regular line.

Moleskin is a must-have light to medium matte brown. It’s the just-right balance of gray, pink and yellow tinted tan and though you many use it different ways, it can work for anyone, as a lid color, crease color or highlight. It’s very similar to Wedge Eyeshadow from Mac’s regular line, but Moleskin has a better texture and color payoff, and is just a hair pinker.

Outre is a mustard-caramel, which sounds really nasty, but as an eyeshadow color it’s fabulous. To my eye this color is identical to the mustard-caramel in the Double Feature 4 duo (Side by side swatch below). This color is great as a crease or transitional color on people with a golden or olive skintones, though it can also work for deeper skintones. The closest thing in the regular line is Soba, though Soba is much browner, and has a slight shimmer.

Mythical is a metallic pink-copper,a nd as far as I’m concerned is a “better-than” dupe for MAC’s Mythology from the regular line.

Satin Taupe is a metallic silver brown taupe. It’s incredibly versatile and works on virtually every skin-tone though the effect changes (on me it’s very brown, but on a deeper skintone it looks a bit more silver. MAC Repromotes this thing like crazy, and while that’s a bit annoying, I don’t mind as long as it’s not a  quad where I’d want it but I already have it.

Carbonized is a shimmery chocolate black-brown. in the pan and swatched is seems to be a metallic warm chocolate brown but in use it tends to loose some of the shimmer and shifts to a cooler grey-brown. Incredibly usefula dn easy to blend.  there are no direct dupes, but if you want a shimmery warm brown in the regular line try Mulch.

Wedge, Moleskin

Soba, Outre, Double Feature 4

Center Stage, Carbonized, Mulch
