10 To-Die-For Green Handbags

As you may have guessed by my haircolor for the past year, I am a total sucker for the color green. Green is a versatile color that can feel happy, clean, fresh and bright, but it can also be luxurious, murky, dark and mysterious. Give me green in pretty much all of it’s incarnations: emerald, grassy, chartreuse, dirty olive, nearly black. The right shade of green can be a statement piece, or a neutral staple in your wardrobe. Green of any hue is one of my favorite colors to see in a handbag, and green bags are having a moment so I wanted to share a few with you!

We’ll start with something fairly tame and classic, this turnlock style from Ted Baker. The color is downright neutral but more interesting than a brown or gray bag. I love the clean lines and the rose gold hardware! It has a 21 1/2” inch strap drop which is about the minimum I need for a bag to fit my size 22 body as a cross-body. I just love how neutral and chic this is, and the inner compartments could make organizing my phone, eye drops, sunglasses, receipts, and zillions of lipsticks a little bit easier.

Fat babes rejoice: This Whiting & Davis crossbody bag has a 25″ strap drop that can also convert into a shoulder strap! Love the Versatility! Plus have you ever had a metal mesh bag like this? I had one in the early 00’s and it feels so cool! The oil slick coloring is gorgeous, and it comes in 4 other colors to tickle your fancy.

I love a good nylon bag- it’s so practical and light-weight, perfect for day trips or traveling. This Nordstrom Brand crossbody  is easy to clean; you can toss these in your washing machine, and let it air dry to get all the crumbs and coffee spills out. Is that just me? The olive color is so beautiful, it has a 23″ strap drop which is my personal sweetspot, and quite a few handy features like card slots. Kinda thinking og scooping this one up!

Three words: Green Leopard Print. Either that makes you very excited or makes you cringe. It’s an acquired taste, or maybe it’s just tacky, but if you love it who cares! This Claire V. clutch is essentially a zippered pouch that is big enough to hold a small tablet. Made in Italy and the USA, it’s a lovely piece that speaks volumes about your personality.

Green Velvet is probably one of my favorite things ever. Add matelassé stitching (the folding) into the mix and this bag becomes a textural delight! This Miu Miu bag is made in Italy, and is a pretty decent size for an over the shoulder bag. The price puts this baby well outside my budget, but I’m still delighted to have seen it!

I let out an audible sigh when I spotted this Gorgeous BRAHMIN satchel. The Color. The Velvet. The Embossing. The Shape. The boxy enterior that would make it easy to see an everything on the inside. Seeing this bag was like falling in love, I’m imagining us going to holidays together, and seeing the kids off the college and then in the twilight years, kicking back and watching the sunset together. It’s a bit pricey but not quite as INSANE as some gorgeous bags, so I’ll be watching to see if it goes one sale, or maybe I’ll just bite the bullet!

The moment I saw this Hobo Clutch I was struck by how practical it is! I love a good wrist clutch, and this one ticked all the boxes: Great style, fabulous color, big enough for my phone and card wallet but not so big I’ll over stuff it. The Jasper color will look lovely in any season, and I can see myself getting a lot of mileage out of this one. So I bought it. It comes it two other beautiful colors as well.

This Simon Miller bag was made in the USA! While this looks like a fairly large tote, reading the info I realized it’s more like a small clutch in size: 8”W x 7 3/4”H x 3”D Not so great for anyone who carried more than their phone credit card  and lipgloss, but perfect for a non-fussy date or dinner with your friends when you don’t want to look too dressed up but your everyday bag is too heavy for a night out. The color on this is right up my alley, I just want to pet it!

Compared to many of the others on this list, this Street Level clutch is a bargain at $35. I love faux fur, and the geo-shape of this cute bag really speaks to me. This bag s a 23″ strap drop- my plus-size sweet spot! This would be a great way to dip your toe in if you’re not sure green bags are for you!

And of course- most fun for last. I love any bag that looks like something else, so this Moschino Small Biker Jacket Shoulder Bag is insanely adorable to me. Under the cute design this is a basic flap bag, made in Italy, with a 21-24″ crossbody strap so hey-yo, perfect for every body.

Holiday Lookbook- ModCloth, Target, Forver 21, Eloquii, & City Chic

Hey Guys & Dolls!

There are three significant things I want to mention about today’s fashion vlog- The first is the theme: HOLIDAY!  For me this time of year is all about cozy fabric, keeping warm, plaid/tartan, and injecting my outfits with a touch of whimsy and kitsch. There’s places to go, family to visit, and parties to attend and it’s all more fun when you’re wearing something fabulous. But looking fabulous doesn’t have to mean sausaged into shapewear- the biggest thing for me this time of year is comfort. No one wants to run around all day in a girdle. So today’s lookbook is coming to you sans shapewear. I wanted to show how I actually wear these clothes. Let’s get real, it’s not that I’m swearing off shapewear altogether but I don’t think it’s necessary all the time. And finally-with all these different events to attend, renting a few items from Gwynnie Bee is a great way to stretch your party wardrobe. Plus when you’re done wearing an item you just ship it back without having to wash it- so that’s one less errand to do. Score! Watch the video below to see the clothes in action.

When I wore this outfit this weekend to the Dickens Christmas Faire in San Francisco, this skirt was a hit. I had quite a few people in full Victorian era costume drop character to tell me they liked my skirt- I take that as a high compliment. I wore this with a different jacket (the caplet I shared last week). This whole outfit is so good, I’m going wash it and wear it again as soon as possible.

Eloquii Plaid Skirt- coming soon
Bow top- Forever 21+
Obi Belt
Obi Belt Extended Size
Taupe Booties

I love shirt dresses but they rarely love me back. They either don’t flatter, are too short, or gap like the grand canyon in the chest. This one is flattering, I love the length, but it does have minimal gaping. I wore it to do errands, and working on my blog; I’m wearing it right now ^_^. This dress ships from Gwynnie Bee with simple skinny belt but I swapped it out for this cute glitter one from Eloquii.

City Chic Blue Shirt Dress
Eloquii Belt
Taupe Target Booties

Ok, let’s get real, this is pretty much my fall/winter uniform: Thick leggings, boots, and a wrap around sweater. It’s cute, comfortable, and versatile. I like to wear mine belted with an obi belt or some other statement belt. Can you tell I like belts? They pull in at the waist and flatter my shape.

BB Dakota Sweater-coming soon
Black Leggings
Legroom Boots

Ok  I’m going to get a little mushy and sentimental here- Growing up my Mom had a “Christmas” flannel dress she wore every holiday. When I saw this on the ModCloth site I knew I was going to make this my “Holiday Dress”. The fabric is a nice lightweight flannel, and it has pockets. I’m so happy about this one!

Legroom Boots

The holidays aren’t all about kitsch and cute- sometimes you gotta bust out your Shewolf. Yes I’m talking going full Shakira. City Chic is becoming my go-to for sexy dresses. I’ve bought a few of the ones I’ve borrowed from GB, because I fall so in love with them I just can’t send them back. They’re sexy but not trashy, and that’s super important to me. I love feeling and looking good, but not over exposed for my comfort level. Let me know if you wanna see a post on what I’ve kept- I think that might be fun.

When you want Holiday Kitsch, look no further than ModCloth. The print on this dress is so adorable that I can almost look past how large this dress runs. Almost. But it’s about a full size too big, and with a cut like this, and being that it’s lined, even a belt can’t hide the bulk. I’m going to take it to a tailor along with the cranberry coat I also bought from the ModCloth label. I need a new one- any recommendations for a great tailor in the Bay Area?

I’ll be doing a swatchfest of the 4 JS Velour Lipsticks I have an a tutorial of this look soon ^_^

Life, New Hair & OOTD

Life, Hair & OOTD Thumb_FotorHey Guys & Dolls!

First things first; I refreshed my roots! I decided to do a little something different from my normal Pink/Purple/Black; The top portion that is normally hot pink is now sort of a pastel pink/purple and I kept a bigger section of blond in the front. Will I keep it this way? I don’t know, but it is fun to mix it up every now and then! Read More “Life, New Hair & OOTD”

Mixing Textures: Menswear Vintageortacky for Simply Be Lookbook

*Clothing Provided by Simply Be*look book for simply be 084

Hey Guys & Dolls!

This is my favorite look in this series, which is interesting because Mr. Vintageortacky talked me into most of it. I love a semi-menswear look, and this one has feminine touches with the hyper-feminine makeup, and lace, juxtaposed with the cowboy boots, wet-looking jeans and tweed jacket.  I’ve wanted a Joe Browns jacket for a while so that was a no-brainer, and I’m so pleased with how flattering it is. I want to wear it everyday!! I love all the little asymmetric details, and mismatched buttons, random red stitches… I die. The blouse is a great length to be work with leggings and I think this look would particularly suit apple and pear body types These jeans are so interesting, it almost look like leather, and the color is just to die for. Can we make Ox Blood the next pantone color of the year because I want it on everything!  I love this little bow clip- it can be used in the hair too! I’m officially obsessed with Trilby hats and I love any outfit that makes the hat look like part of the gang! The Boots in this look- I’m super impressed. These are so well made, and even with the inch heel are very comfortable. Kudos Simplybe!!! Read More “Mixing Textures: Menswear Vintageortacky for Simply Be Lookbook”

90’s Inspired Urban Forest

*Clothing provided by Simply Be*90's Urban Forest shrunk

Hey Guys & Dolls!

This dress is so 90’s and I’m feeling my inner riot girl down to the run in my tights- see if you can catch it in the video. I love and live in shirt dresses because they are perennially cool, flattering, and I think incredibly sexy in an understated and confident way. I wanted to include a look in this series that wasn’t as dressed-up; parties are often casual affairs and I sometimes one does not want to fuss with an updo! Let you hair down, throw on some silly accessories (soup ladle earrings anyone?) and relax into the holidays!

We filmed this at a bus stop in Oakland. I love how in the middle of this busy city, that my mom calls the concrete jungle, there’s this bus stop with a bit of wild grass, flowers and these memorial stones. There’s also a mural on the other side I’ll show you another day. I just love how steps away from this is a 7-11, a nice apartment building, billboards, and adorable craftsman style single family homes. I “hella” love Oakland!
