NYX COSMETICS Faux Black & Faux White Eyeliner Review!

NYX Cosmetics Faux Black Faux White Collection

HOLY CATS! I haven’t seen any information about these anywhere so I’m super excited to share my haul, review and mini tutorial of the new at the drugstore NYX Faux Black and Faux White eyeliner collections! I picked these up last week at Ulta, and I’ve spent a few days playing around with them and I can now say I ADORE THEM! At $8 dollars a pop these are a great deal. The deeper colors are elegant and easy to wear but are definitely not boring, while the pastels are a great alternative to white in your inner rim or to give your inner corner a little boost.  Most exciting- There’s both a RED and a BROWN-BURGUNDY!!! *jumping up and down with excitement* These types of colors are common from expensive luxury and artistry driven brands, so it’s encouraging to see this launch available from an affordable brand! A few of the pastel colors have Colourpop dupes, but the CP liners dried up on me really fast, and I tend to prefer a liner I can sharpen. In addition to swatched of these liners, I decided to also try layering the Kat Von D Alchemist powders over top just for fun! Wow- awesome combo! Bust out those Ulta point, use a coupon and check out these liners!

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Hi Guys and Dolls!

This is by far my favorite Liquid lipstick formula! I love the whole vibe of the brand- the cheeky names, fun colors, formula, packaging and the applicator are flawless. It don’t stain as bad as other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried, and you can even use it as eyeliner!!  I have four colors now, but I can tell this is just the beginning of a beautiful cosmetic addiction. The next colors on my list are I Am Royalty, Blue Velvet, Drug Lord, Unicorn Blood and Masochist. Watch my video to see them in action!

Blow Pony. That name- omg. Ok confession- I’m naive enough that when I first heard it I though, or like a blow up plastic toy. And then I thought about it and had a OH – DUH! moment. hahaha. Blow Pony is a lovely medium lavender. It’s showing up here a bit lighter than it is is real life, but only just a little bit. I had the hardest time taking pictures of this one, it kept looking too light. The only one I got where it was pretty darn color accurate in the photo below, which is blurry. Whamp Whamp.  _MG_3858

🎵I am Doll Parts. Bad Skin. Doll Heart.🎵 OK so as a girl who was obsessed with HOLE in the 90’s the name of this one is my favorite. I can’t help but think of the music video, and listening to this on my little boombox in my bedroom and being enamored with Courtney Love. This lipstick is a GORGEOUS mauve pink, and as far as application goes, this one applies the easiest- though they are all pretty easy-peasy. This is perhaps one of the most conservative colors in the line- very office appropriate. I was wearing this in my monthly faves video for November.

🎵We’re gonna party like it’s Prom Night! 🎵 Hot pink is my signature, and ever since I went darker with my hair I find it’s more flattering than Red for me. This hot pink is my favorite hot pink lipstick, and let me tell you, I have quite a collection, so that’s a bold statement. The coverage is perfect, the color itself it nearly neon, but has a grounding depth of color that makes it flattering and not just shocking. Every time I wear this several people stop me and want to know what it is. I tell ’em It’s Jeffree Star Baby! On a side note- I’d wanted to pick up Masochist as well since it more of a red/pink and I love that color too. Next time!

Hoe Hoe Hoe. The name slays me and I adore the cranberry red. I’m not sure if if was visible in the video, but here you can see that there is tiny pink and purple micro glitter. It’s less noticeable when you first apply it, but as you talk/ live your life throughout the day it starts to come though.

Fall and Winter Outwear | Fashion Focus

Just in time for chilly weather, here’s a guide to different types of fall & winter outerwear. “Weather” it’s only a slight nip in your air or there’s snow on the ground, I’ve got ya covered! I live in a pretty moderate climate, so most of the time I can get away with a light coat, and for years I’ve worn this over sized grey hooded one when it gets truly cold- but it’s as shapeless as it is warm. I’ve been trying to up my style when it comes to fall and winter outerwear, and I went a little nuts lately, so please indulge me while I share. I hope you’ll get some inspiration from these looks- I know a lot of my fashion tips are geared toward plus size babes, but I love all body types, and a few of these are available in sizes XS-4X ^_^

This coat is super cute- I love the overall design and shape, the color, the collar and waist detail, the pockets, the length, and the fact that the lining is quilted, so it’s warm AF. BUT- and this is a BIG BUTT- It’s just way too big, which is more obvious when it’s closed- frankly I feel it looks dumpy. I feel like nearly everything I’ve got from the ModCloth label runs at least one size too big. I considered returning it for the 2X, but I’m going to use it as a test for a new tailor. I want it to fit and flatter, and if they can do that without losing the style- I’ll be a very happy girl.

Three words: Teddy Bear Coat. I had to have this from the moment I clapped eyes on it. It’s a blushy-beige, super soft, and surprisingly warm considering it’s lightweight. I don’t think this would help with a Fargo winter, but for the Bay Area it’s A-OK. This is The lining is a super slinky leopard satin, and I feel like it goes with everything. Sure it gives off a lightweight bathrobe vibe but Adele is wearing one in her Hello video, and that’s good enough for me.

Whomever invented the Capelet needs a major award. You get the cool-girl vibe of wearing your blazer over your shoulders, effortless, casual and charming, but you don’t have to worry about it slipping off and looking like a dingus as you sheepishly pick it up. You look like an in-the-know fashion plate- and did I mention that it’s flattering. Yeah man. Lots of brands are launching these- I’ve even seen a dress version. This Eloquii version comes in three colors; I’m so tempted to go back for the other two. This isn’t really warm… but who cares? It’s one of the coolest fashion things I’ve bought.

Forever 21+ and I have a love-hate relationship. When it’s good- it’s so good. When it’s bad…..ugh. There have been months- entire years even where I think everything on the site is complete garbage and I’m not even kidding. That’s harsh- but there was literally a one year period where I was close to swearing them off for good. This year, they’ve turned it around big time in my opinion. I’ve got quite a few pieces this fall that I’m MAD about in the good way; A nude knit and pleat dress I had to have after seeing it on a subbie, a ribbed crop top that reminded me of my ribbed tanks from the 90’s, a rayon button down skirt I bought in every color, and now the pièce de ré·sis·tance: A Faux Fur Poncho. Ok, if this were not a photo blog, I’d be cringing right now- but since you can see what I’m talking about, I’m sure you can appreciate how good this is. I adore this piece, it’s very casual prep- I love wearing it with skinny jeans, my UGG boots, sipping a PSL and shopping at B&BW for fall candles. Ok I’ve never done that, but this does have a sort of preppy quality I think is fun to try on sometimes. Also the faux-fur is pretty good on this- I’ve been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty glares from people who must think it’s real. Or maybe their face just looks like that.

Best for last; I had to make a little photo gallery for this one. I bought this Eloquii jacket last winter, and I’ve worn it pretty much every chance I’ve had since then. It is simply perfect- the cut, color and quality are perfection. It’s feminine, yet tough, the fabric holds up well -no pilling or signs of wear and tear, and the lining feels like stretchy silk. It’s warm but not clamy, and it goes with everything. And the compliments are incredible- I’ve never had a piece of clothing be so universally beloved. I’d love it even if the world didn’t but it’s a real shot in the arm to receive so many compliments from both men and women- young and old. And it’s not just “I like that” it’s more like “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR WHERE DID YOU GET THAT!” variety. Just get it and thank me later. This one ran a bit big for me, I originally had it in a size 22, and this fall they brought it back so I got the size 20 since the 22 was a bit big in the shoulder and added some bulk. I mean it was already good, but now it’s perfect. Now I have two incase heaven forbid something happens to it.

Gwen Stefani for Urban Decay Palette

No words could ever properly explain my intense excitement over this palette. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious comes close, but no cigar. I’ve been a HUGE GWEN fan since I first saw the video for “Just a Girl” on MTV back in the Wednesday.

WANYE GOSS Holiday Brush Returns!

Hey Guys & Dolls!

So by now you know that I love the Wayne Goss brush line. LOVE! But there’s one brush I haven’t gushed too much about, because it wasn’t available so I didn’t want to be a tease, and that’s the holiday brush. Happily, it’s just relaunched at beautylish with free shipping worldwide!

The Holiday Brush is a large, pointed face brush perfect for everything from setting powder, to contour, blush & highlight! The tapered tip and precise placement of this brush are what makes it the perfect powder brush- it can glide around even the nooks and cranies of your face with ease! The ends hairs are left natural (never cut), which not only feels amazing, but it picks up just he right amount of product and then deposits it onto your skin beautifully.

I’ve loved this type of egg-shaped brush for years, and have versions from several brands, but since I bought this brush last year, I’ve barely touched the others. They don’t come close to comparing to the softness, quality, and expert way this brush picks up and places product. This brush is limited edition, so if you’ve been eyeing it get it while you can, you won’t regret it (just read the reviews on Beautylish).

WAYNE GOSS Holiday Brush 2Wayne Goss Holiday Brush after 1 year of use, Brand Spanking new, and a Wayne Goss 02 Brush for size/shape comparison.

I bought the Holiday Brush last year, and I can tell you that it’s held up beautifully, the hairs are still as soft as ever and I think I’ve only lost 3 in a whole year, which is like some sort of holiday brush miracle. After you wash and use it it does fluff up a bit compared to the brand new brush, but I like it better this way- you can use the tip for precision, the belly of the brush for placing, or blending powder. When using product on the tip you can customize the brush by adjusting your pressure to make it bigger or smaller. It washes and retains it’s shape beautifully, which isn’t something I can say of the other versions of this brush I’ve tried. Another thing I love is that this brush doesn’t “bleed” color every time I wash it- something that drives me bonkers about the MAC 138 brush. And if soft white goat hair is the thing your brush dreams are made of, it now comes in white. I need this right? PS- these make amazing holiday gifts (Feel free to email this blog to your Significant Other)

While we’re on the subject, I want to talk about a few of my other gotta-have-it fave brushes from Wayne Goss! Now that I’ve had some of these for over a year, I can confidently recommend these as my faves and brushes I use daily.

02- this one is great for wiping away fall out, setting the under eye, contour, highlight, and I especially love it with my Hourglass Ambient Light power. It’s like a mini version of the holiday brush.

06- I had to show three angles of this brush- it s an oval shaped flat brush with long hairs that make it great as both a shader and a crease defining blending brush. This one is so lovely and versatile, and I don’t have anything else quite like it.

07-this brush is really teeny tiny! It’s small size, shape, flatness, and the natural hairs make this my favorite lip brush. Even though synthetic brushes are *technically* better for cream products, natural seems to work better for me.

14- this brush though! When you first see it I know what you’re thinking- what’s this thin weird brush going to do for me? Plenty. This brush fluffs up a little bit with use- but it isn’t very dense, which makes it perfect for applying blush, bronzer or even your setting powder with a light hand.

17-this is my favorite brush for highlight or a wash of color on the lid. It’s wide enough to cover a large area in no time, but it’s thin like a shader brush and never picks up too much product.

18- this is literally one of the best shaders I’ve ever used. I feel like a broken record but it picks up product perfectly, and is an expert brush for both packing color on and blending.

19- Wayne Goss’s brush line has a lot of blending brushes- a lot. But this one is my favorite, especially for a lighter everyday eye. it’s just the perfect size to rock a few shades in my socket line and call it a day.
